The number Pi (abbreviated 3.14) has its own special day on March 14. On Pi Day teachers in classrooms across the globe take a break from the normal routine to plan a special celebration in honor of Pi. March 14 also happens to be the birthdate of Albert Einstein, making the day extra special for planning fun math challenges!
Quad Prep staff and students celebrated Pi day with fun activities and lessons in all preps! Early Childhood students learned about the special number pi and why it is celebrated. Lower School students created Pi paper chains, Pi necklaces, all while visiting each other’s preps! The Upper School STEM department hosted Pi day in the Colonial Room, organizing fun activities for students who wished to participate.
The final activity of the day was the Pi digit contest, where students recited as many digits of Pi as they could memorize! Lower School students Aiden and Osiris won first and second place (respectively) in this school-wide contest!
The day ended with multitudes of pie and pie eating provided by the amazing staff at Quad Prep!
