Anna Christodoulou, PsyD, Director of Admissions and Outreach: Twice-exceptional students are neurodiverse from two different angles. On one hand, they're gifted. That means that they're very creative learners. They're very iconoclastic in their thinking, and at the same time have learning differences of some sort. Our students might have difficulties with their attention, social skills with anxiety, executive functioning needs, and also specific learning disabilities like dyslexia, dysgraphia, or a specific disability in math.
Kim Busi, MD, Founder and Head of School: I started Quad Prep because I was looking for a school for my son. The schools I saw either had gifted, rigorous education programs or they had learning supports and social-emotional curriculum. No school had both.
Kim Busi: As a psychiatrist, I began to dream of a new model that integrated gifted education with clinical support. And so, with three children in the basement of a synagogue in the East Village, Quad Prep was born.
Student 1: I'm a math genius!
Student 2: I'm a writer!
Student 3: When I come to Quad, I feel like every day is going to be a new adventure.
Anna Christodoulou: It really has to do with how we apply integration into our school. So, the clinical team works very closely with the academic team and vice versa. Academics and psychosocial supports go hand in hand for our students in order for them to be successful in our school.
Suma Dasari, Quad Prep Parent: There's really this special space here of challenging these bright young students in their gifted learning, but also understanding that there are some setbacks in gifted learning and making sure that the student as a whole is taken care of and supported in a way that will enhance their academic experience.
Paul Levinsohn, Quad Prep Parent, Board Member: One of the things that makes Quad so special is the ongoing dialogue between the parent and the school. With teachers, with clinicians, it's happening on a regular basis—often on a daily basis.
Kim Busi: Quad Prep students love to explore complex problems. They ask the best questions and come up with the most creative solutions.
Anna Christodoulou: Learning is their natural state. And unfortunately, what I hear at the admissions level is that they are in schools that they don't feel motivated in anymore. They don't feel that they're being successful. They feel that they're feeling they're bored in the classroom. All of this changes when they come to Quad Prep.
Student 4: Quad is a safe place!
Anna Christodoulou: They find friends. They find people who are very like-minded: that share similar interests, similar passions. They find their tribe.
Paul Levinsohn: We came from another independent school. It's been an absolute lifesaver and game-changer for Brady and our family.
Giovanna Henson, Quad Prep Parent: I feel like I know my child, and I know what Quad has done for him, and I also know that it's a big difference and it's an amazing difference. And I love to see the type of child that Tristan is and who he’s becoming.
Suma Dasari: Quad Prep has been a robust school for these twice-exceptional children, and all of the issues that go along with having a twice-exceptional child. And so, it was really, to me, a no-brainer to move our family. And we were happy to do it because we had ended up with a happy child. You know, she's so happy, and our lives are different because she's happy.
Kim Busi: Our goal is for students to know themselves, to advocate for what they need, and for them to have choices for their future. Our graduates have been accepted to multiple colleges, often their first choice, and many of them receiving generous merit scholarships.
Anna Christodoulou: We identify the proper colleges for our students, and it is also a matter of educating them about self-advocacy, about wellness, about everything that they need when they leave Quad Prep so that they are empowered in their lives.
Kim Busi: One of the best parts of working here, and one of the things that really makes me happy as a parent, is when parents come up to me and share how relieved they feel when their kids are here, how excited they are when they see the projects that their kids are working on, and really, most importantly, that the kids are happy again. And that happiness does not just pertain to the school day, but it applies to life at home as well.
Kim Busi: I feel like it restores things back to a really great state, and I really love working with families for that reason.
Nicolette Carbonetto, MEd, Lower School Senior Head Teacher, Quad Prep: The students are so passionate about the things that they love and the things that they want to learn. Teachers, clinicians, everyone's own subject area: they're so passionate about the things that they want to teach the kids. And I find that one of the highlight moments of quad is when a student's really excited about something and you're really excited about something, and you just create something that you never thought you could. So passion.
Giovanna Henson: They saved my child's life.
Students: One. Two. Three. Quad!

Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Admissions Team and the full community at The Quad Preparatory School, welcome! We’re so pleased to join you in your journey to find the right educational environment for your child.
With a background in school psychology, I’ve worked with hundreds of families searching for the right placement for their gifted, neurodiverse child. Often, I hear the same story—their talented child is struggling at school because they are bored and unmotivated. They may lack strong executive functioning skills, struggle socially, experience anxiety, or face other challenges related to social-emotional learning or academic performance that limit their ability to reach their full potential.
For 2e students, everything changes when they come to Quad Prep!
At Quad Prep, 2e students discover a school built just for them—with personalized learning woven together with integrated psychosocial and clinical support. The experience of school is transformed as learners engage in challenging academic inquiry at the highest levels while also embracing their unique gifts, voices, and identities—both in and beyond the classroom.
But the transformation doesn’t stop with our students. At Quad Prep, families also find a place of belonging—a community that understands the journey of raising a 2e child and the relief of finding a school that truly fits.
I’m deeply committed to supporting you in finding the right fit for your child, and I invite you to explore your next steps below. If you have any questions about our school or the application process, please feel free to contact me and our Admissions Team at admissions@quadprep.org at any time—we always love to hear from you.
Thank you for considering Quad Prep. I look forward to meeting you!
